L-lysine is an amino acid that can increase sperm count in combination with zinc. Get it through peanuts, tofu, beans, and lentils. Optimize not only your L-lysine, but also your zinc, found in raw oysters, wheat germ, dark chocolate, and mutton, to name a few. Zinc and L-lysine in the same meal are advised for better results.

L-carnitine, on the other hand, is an amino acid that decreases inflammation of the prostate, seminal vesicles, and epididymis. It helps enhance sperm motility. Get it from your favorite healthy snacks, namely pumpkin and sunflower seeds, dried fruits, nuts, and granola.

What you need to remember is that it’s best to get amino acids from food rather than from synthetic sources, especially low-quality supplements. But if you cannot get enough from your diet, high-quality supplementation is better than nothing. Consult your doctor for best results, particularly if you have an existing medical condition that you are taking medications for.
